She is a practitioner specializing in Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Ayurvedic medicine.  Dr. Sheng-wei Lan is a member of AAAOM of American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and a member of AYUSH Preventive HealthCare -- A global Health and Wellness Network. Her specialty include internal medicine, diabetes management, women's wellness, mental wellness, bipolar, pain management, Ayurvedic perspective of lifestyle and dietary counseling. Dr. Sheng-wei Lan's doctoral studies and research have enhanced her keen interest in diabetes syndrome improving through Tai Ji Fan practice. Dr. Lan is a doctoral program member of the TCM Diabetes Team which is writing a book on the care and prevention of diabetes as a cooperative effort between Five Branches University and Zhejiang Chinese Medical University. She is honored for her part in both the research and writing of this informative publication. Her lifelong studies in Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese medicine, nutrition and Tai Ji Fan practice are gratefully drawn together by this experience. She has healed over 10,000 patients through her Berkeley clinic “Berkeley Great Compassion Ayurveda & Acupuncture Clinic” in Berkeley as well as at numerous volunteer events by the Tzu Chi Charity Organization, City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, Berkeley Buddhist Monastery, Medicine Buddha Healing Center, and Elephant Pharmacy. She is also a former faculty member in Five Branches University in California.

Her impressive track record began from the time of her residency at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences, where she earned her Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (M.S.TCM).  Dr. Lan’s reputation was such that she quickly became the most “booked” intern among patients at her school clinic.

Dr. Lan continued to impress her professors even at graduation; she was the only person in her class to pass the state acupuncturist licensing Board Exam (L.Ac) and national Board Exam (NCCAOM) at the same time she completed another Ph.D program (in Ayurvedic medicine), a major feat in this field.

Despite the recognition she received, Dr. Lan remained humble as a practitioner, and through her spiritual practice.  She did not forget the limitations of any single treatment philosophy, and wasted no time in pursuing further studies, leading to her attainment of Master Ayurvedic Herbalist (M.A.H.) and Ph.D. in Buddhist Ayurveda.

Dr. Lan have served as an advice practitioner and herbalist at Elephant Pharmacy in Berkeley.  As she received her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree (DAOM), she continues to see patients at her Berkeley clinic “Berkeley Great Compassion Ayurveda & Acupuncture Clinic,” where patients receive even more benefits from her intense studies and clinical experience. She also held free classes at Elephant Pharmacy before and teaches health awareness class at Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy in Berkeley now. Topics include Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine, Chinese calligraphy class, Tai Ji Fan Exercise, tea classes, etc.

Today, she is one of the very few practitioners in the US who can offer patients the benefits of both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine,  the most ancient wisdoms and philosophies of Asia.
